A custom sock project starts with a clear brief. Before choosing the smallest design details, agree who the socks are for, how many pairs you need, and when you hope to receive them. Those decisions give the design and quotation a useful starting point.
Start with the occasion
Are the socks part of a team kit, school merchandise collection, reunion gift, or event preorder? Pick one main purpose. A player kit may need individual numbers, while an alumni order may use the same batch year on every pair.
Write a one-sentence brief: “We are planning navy and white socks for a school basketball squad and would like to discuss 100 pairs.” Treat the quantity as an estimate until you have collected the team’s requirements.
Count pairs and collect sizes
Build a size breakdown before asking for a final quotation. Record the number of pairs per person and whether there are separate player, coach, volunteer, or supporter groups. Ask the selected supplier for its own size chart; do not assume that two manufacturers use identical labels or measurements.
If names or numbers vary, prepare a roster with one row per design variation. Have one organizer check spelling and totals before approval.
Choose a design reference
Browse the DIGZ collections and note a reference such as BASK-03. The reference communicates a starting layout: it does not lock your group into the example’s colors or fictional name.
Include your palette, preferred lettering, and authorized artwork. If the only logo you have is a small screenshot, mention that early so artwork preparation can be discussed. Ask which details can be reproduced clearly in the proposed construction.
Work backward from your event
Share both the event date and your requested delivery date. Allow the supplier to assess design work, sampling, approval, production, and shipping before confirming feasibility.
A date entered in an inquiry is a request, not a delivery promise. Ask what must be approved and paid before the production schedule begins, and agree how changes after approval will be handled.
Use a sample to settle the details
Discuss whether you need a physical sample and confirm its cost and timing. Review the logo at actual size, compare the lettering against your approved artwork, and check the agreed fit and construction.
Record the approved yarn composition, sizes, care instructions, placement, and packaging. Only use material or performance claims in your own sales copy after those claims have been confirmed.
Review the complete quotation
Ask what the quoted amount includes: setup, design preparation, samples, packaging, delivery, and any applicable additional charges. Confirm minimum quantities, payment terms, defect reporting, and the procedure for shortages or incorrect items.
For a preorder, decide who collects payments, records sizes, answers buyer questions, and distributes the finished pairs. Keep the approved order details in one shared record.
